#FoundationFriday: e.l.f. Acne Fighting Foundation

tumblr_inline_obgsbvpmbt1spje6h_540If you’ve read my blog before, you know that L’Oréal True Match is my #1 ride-or-die foundation. But prior to discovering my love for it, my skin was an absolute mess and I was determined to find a blemish-friendly foundation that actually does what it promises. So many products claim to work while you’re wearing them but, as you would expect, those claims are almost always too good to be true. Acne-prone skin needs to breathe in order to clear, but if you’re anything like me, you always want to keep it covered … which means you’ll continue to have break-outs and you’ll continue needing foundation for coverage! A vicious cycle, I tell ya! For me, e.l.f.’s Acne Fighting Foundation was the only one that met the challenge.

13898_83124_900px_new_deptimg-jpg-_deptimgThis full-coverage formula has key ingredients like salicylic acid, witch hazel, camphor, tea tree, and aloe. It battles blemishes like you wouldn’t believe—and for $6, it’s an absolute steal. I do have a couple of complaints though. 1) There are only five shades to choose from. I ended up buying two different shades and mixing them to get an in-between color. Thank goodness it’s inexpensive! 2) It is SUPER mattifying. I love a good matte finish, but this is seriously one of the most matte formulations that I have ever used. You can absolutely see that you’re wearing foundation. With a full face of makeup, it isn’t so distracting; but if you’re going for a more natural look, this may not be the product for you. Either way, if you’re looking for a full-coverage foundation that truly fights acne, look no further. This little gem began clearing up my skin within days of using it. This is why I still keep it in rotation.
